摘要

THE International Design Competition is SDC's annual flagship competition, engaging with hundreds of students, universities and designers globally. The competition helps the entrants develop their understanding of colour and the challenges around sustainability in the textile supply chain. The competition is free to enter and attracts hundreds of entries worldwide. The theme for 2021 is 'Colour and the Universe'. SDC has announced that Archroma is the major sponsor for the 2021 competition. The links to The Color Atlas by Archroma are key to both the competition theme and the accompanying educational package. Due to the exceptional global circumstances and the ongoing uncertainty caused by the pandemic, SDC has rolled forward the 2020 competition theme 'Colour and the Universe' to 2021 and have announcedthat the 2020/21 competition will take place online. This means that all stages of the competition including the regional heats and grand final can be held as online events this year, removing the uncertainty around any travel restrictions or safety concerns which may be in place at the time. Internationally, the competition coordinators in participating countries have been invited to organise their local heats, which may take place online or as physical events, depending on the pandemic restrictions in individual countries. Whilst this will be very different to our usual format, SDC will be showcasing the finalist's work digitally.
