Fabric Comfort Quality (FCQ) was newly evolved fabric comfort index and it was proposed to textile industries for implementation in their commercial functions involving quality checking and measurement. New methods and new sets of fabric mechanical properties and comfort properties were chosen and proposed for evaluation by predominantly two new testing instruments, Bi - Axial Stress and Strain Tester (BASS) and Drape and Stiffness Tester (DST) and three old testing instruments, Crease Recovery tester, Instron and KES. The FCQ evaluation was in the form of computing an Index similar to that of Total Hand Value (THV) of Kawabata Evaluation System (KES).Instead of 'simple hand evaluation' that was limited in KES, 'more objective evaluation' involving the low stress route embedded with regular high stress route enhanced the scope for 'practicality' combined with 'broad based objectivity'. A novel Four Way Analysis (FWA) technique has been evolved for the purpose of determining Grade and Rank of a fabric in regard to FCQ. This was supposed to have commercial significance in terms of true value analysis at the producer end and quality assurance and guarantee offered at the consumer end. It was viewed as noteworthy that such a novel fabric grading and ranking implemented in market environment helps in branding and emergence of 'branded fabrics' like other finished consumer products and garments. The newly developed fabric testinginstruments, BASS and DST were subjected to commercial trials and tests and it was found that these were non-power operating, user friendly, simple in operation and durable in utility and reprodudbility. The present paper was focused on Four Way Analysis (FWA) technique and was limited to the explanation of the method of evaluation and analysis.
