Consequence of age gap on organizational dedication: A quantitative study of textile industries in India

摘要

The chief aim of the current study is to explore the viable distinction in the dedication levels between the employeesof Generation X (GenX) and Generation Y (GenY) in the rapidly changing work environment especially in thecentury of twenty-first. In addition, the study focuses on examining the strength and direction of association betweenthe two age groups with regards to their dedication towards firm. Hence the study was carried out with 384 employeesin five Textile industries in Madhya Pradesh, India through cross-sectional quantitative research method. The studyfindings show that the employees of GenY had an increased normative dedication (ND) than the employees ofGenX. However, employees of GenX had an increased continuance dedication (CD) than the employees of GenY toorganization. In addition, the study revealed that there is no significant difference in affective dedication (AD)between younger and older generation people. The present study gives contribution to the generation gap theory withregards to organizational dedication (OD) and gives new ideas for future researchers in the same field.
