Trades in all over world have becoming more severe about the health and environmental impact of synthetic dyes in manufacturing. Thus there is an enhancement in demand for goods that utilize natural dyes. Substantial source of natural dyes generally extracted from plant source like toot, bark, leaves, fruits and flowers. In present study dyeing of pre-mordanted 100% cotton woven fabric was varied out with natural dye extracted from a fame of forest flowers petals (Butea monosperma). Six different mordants ferric alum, stannous chloride, ferrous sulphate, potassium dichromate, tannic acid were used before dyeing. Dyeing was successfully performed in Rota-dyer available at D.K.T.E's TEI, with programmable time and temperature control. Dyed fabrics were tested for colour fastness to washing using ISO 105 C-10:2006 method. Similarly rubbing fastness of above samples was also assessed according to ISO 105 X12:2002 methods. Results were determined by gray scale rating. Colour composition was determined by Premiere Colour scan computer colour matching system machine instrument facility available at D.K.T.E's TEI. Potassium dichromate is one of the mordant shows original orange shade with moderate to good fastness properties compared to stannous chloride and alum. Ferrous sulphate produces brown shade with good fastness properties compared with rest of mordant in experiment.
