Emulsions are used during finishing for transporting active matter in the product to textiles. Amongst the various classes of fabric softeners, silicones are the most preferred, by virtue of its versatility, inert nature, low surface tension and functional modifications that can be effected to the chain. Silicone emulsion can now be made in the nano form by specialized emulsification techniques. Nanotechnology is the latest technology, which has stirred all the branches of technology and textile is no exception.
