Colourage: How do you see Digital Textile Printing evolving in India ? Ms. Preeti Ahuja Duggal: Globally more than 20 billion meters of textiles are printed. Out of this.more than 50% of textile printing is processed in Asia. In textile printing, in recent years there has been special interest in digital printing. However, digital printing is still comparably small with less than 2% market share, practically non existing in other non-textile printing applications. As per old school thought, it was considered by industry experts as not competitive(against rotary screen and fiat bed printing). Ink jet printing on textiles was considered as too slow, too expensive and only suitable for sampling and very short run lengths, or special designs.
