The new long term Textile Policy which is on the anvil is likely to address the critical concerns of the textiles and textile machinery manufactures in a bid to make them globally competitive through measures such as focus on labour intensive manufacturing, skill upgradation, rationalization of labour cost, speeding up customs clearance and reduction in the cost of capital. An indication to this effect was given by Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Textiles (Independent Charge) while inaugurating FICCI conference on 'Strategy for Making India a Global Leader in Textiles and Apparels' organized joindy by FICCI and the Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
