摘要

Understanding color in both materialistic and philosophical perspective has been of top priority among intellectuals. Color and colored materials - dyes and pigments - have been the major source of inspiration in all studies. Almost everyone -biologists, chemists, physicists, mathematicians....- has made attempts to understand color. Prediction of color of a substance at all levels has been widely researched with a view to develop an a priori approach for synthesizing and understanding functional colored materials. As it is widely known today, colors and colorants do serve not only from an aesthetic point of view but also from a functional point of view. It is a manifestation of interaction of electromagnetic radiation with the materials in this universe as interpreted by the brain with the help of an ever-sophisticated optical organ - the eye. Understanding and describing the first principle of theoretical description of the interaction of molecules with time-dependent electromagnetic fields is still with the sophistication of physics with quantum mechanics is still a challenging problem.
