The denim industry is typically a water guzzler. It also uses a significant quantity of chemicals in its processes and consumes a vast amount of energy in its operations. Denim and green, therefore, have long been mutually contradictory terms. But not any more, thanks to the path-breaking innovations in sustainable manufacturing of denims by a few leading denim garment machinery manufacturers around the world, such as Yilmak Makina, Celikhan Makina and Dr Aykan Textiles (all of Turkey), and VAV Technology (Germany).
