The depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer due to human-produced ozone-depleting substances is a global phenomenon. Emissions of ODSs from around the globe contribute to depletion of the ozone layer throughout much of the stratosphere. Ozone depleting substances emitted from different locations are well mixed within most of the lower atmosphere before they reach the stratosphere, where they contribute to chemical ozone depletion.
