Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi has been granted patent for Fabric Feel Tester, an innovative product developed by the premier academic institute, which is likely to benefit the Indian textile industry.The new device, developed with technical expertise of Apurba Das, Associate Professor, Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi, facilitates quality evaluation of the fabric on the industrial level at a much lower price.Earlier, in order to evaluate the quality of their fabric, the textile industry used the Kawabata Evaluation System (KES), which apart from being very expensive, is a highly technical device which acted as a hurdle for extensive use by the industry.
