TEXTILE Industry as one of the largest in the world, consumes large amounts of water in its variety of wet processing operations. Mechanical processes like spinning and weaving, water consumption is comparatively very low. Almost all types of dyes & speciality chemicals applied to the substrate, use water medium. In addition, processes like desizing, scouring, bleaching and mercerization involves aqueous system. Consequently, textile industry contributes highest share of pollution. On a conservation estimate, an unit producing 10 Tonnes of fabric / day consumes roughly 35 KL of water.
