摘要

"Mordants" are the chemicals that bite the surface of the fibre so that the dye sinks in. Ahimsa mulberry spun silk is called as "Peace silk or Vegetarian silk". By- product of food industry ie: Garcinia indica fruit shell has been collected and used for mordant preparation. Commercially available 14 natural colours were used for the experiment. Mordanted and dyed ahimsa mulberry spun silk fabric is fast to dry cleaning, dry rubbing, wet rubbing and washing. Present study showed that Garcinia indica fruit extract has got the property which improves all the fastness property and shows excellent ultra violet protection factor.
