摘要

WITH water covering more than 70 percent of the Earth's surface, it is commonly perceived that water is a limitless resource. This is quickly changing as the number of countries that are experiencing water scarcity issues is rising and the amount of freshwater that is currently available is decreasing due to pollution from manufacturing industries in the world. The Earth's surface water has a volume of 335 million cubic miles, but the water that is available for human use is considerably smaller with only 2.5 percent of water on the Earth is freshwater.
