The scouring of textile cotton fabric was carried out by taking material to liquor ratio of 1:20. The liquor consisted of 1% caustic soda and 0.1-0.2 g/1 of wetting agent. The liquor along with the material was heated in an autoclave at 15 lb/square inch pressure and 130 °C temperature for a period of 4 hours, following which the material was washed thoroughly to remove the alkali with hot water, and air dried before it was dyed.
