摘要

Silicones are synthetic compounds containing the elements silicone and oxygen. They are second most abundantly available on earth, is hardly found in elemental form. Due to its great affinity for Oxygen, Silicon (unlike Carbon) is not found in the pure form but in compounds of Silica, especially the silicates of Magnesium, Calcium, Iron and Mica. The silicone content in earth crust is approximately 26 %.
