An integrated textile park that is to be established in panjava village under malaut tehsil in ludhiana district in the north indian state of punjab will become operational next year. The project to be set up with an investment of rs. 15 billion was recently given a green signal by the empowered committee of the state government. The project will have 200,000 spindles and is expected to generate over 10,000 direct and around 50,000 indirect employment opportunities, according to vk goyal, ceo of the sel group, which is establishing the project. The textile park is scheduled to become operational in 2012, and it would have an annual capacity to produce 40 million metres of denim and 8 million garment pieces, he added.
