Ramie fiber was degummed with peracetic acid. The chemical constituent of fiber was analyzed by standard method. The results were confirmed through IR analysis, DSC thermographs, Scanning Electron Microscopes, tensile properties etc. The performance of peracetic acid degumming was also compared with conventional caustic soda degummed fiber.
