摘要

Cotton and silk fabric dyed with natural source of dyed material (Stalk of parijataka flower s pigment) and colour of the pigment fixed by the utilization of different inorganic mordants (metallic salts). Its effect on durability performance was examined in terms of tensile strength & abrasion resistance. It was found that flower pigment & selected mordants (alum FeSO_4, CuSO_4 & AlfeSO_4 suitable for dye fixation with minimum concentration in the range of 0.2 to 0.8mg /g of fabric. Developed golden yellow, golden brown, buff yellow & yellow. Tensile strength & abrasion resistance of dyed fabric was found to be increased after mordants used. Alum was noted as superior mordant followed by AlFeso4, FeSO_4 & CuSO_4.
