摘要

This paper deals with the modern Softflow/Overflow machines for batch dyeing of fabrics in rope form. These machines have evolved from the classical jet dyeing machines. The softflow/overflow fabric transport system in these machines is in sharp contrast with the powerful ventura liquor jets transport system of the conventional jet dyeing machines. In softflow/overflow machines, liquor overflows as free fall, aided only by gravity, without any pressure, to carry the fabric along with it, with almost zero pressure on the fabric. These machines are ideal for dyeing sensitive and delicate fabrics and in fact, have been developed to dye such fabrics. With their low liquor ratios and recovery systems, effluents generated are curtailed and the machines are energy-efficient as well as cost-effective.
