TIME-End of January 2006, Venue - Big Bazaar, Activity - A huge shopping spree. Everyone present there was trying to encash the opportunity. The mad rush was dumping the goods in Trolleys. As if they are not going to get the goods at so highly discounted prices. Buy it. If not today, it may be useful tomorrow. If not for me for other members of my family or probably for gifting to near and dear ones, or for occasions where gifts are required to be given. With the IT boom and outsourcing of services from developing countries, Per Capita Income has gone up. People have more surplus funds to spend. Many below poverty line, have come above it, many in lower middle class have joined upper middle class segment, upper middle class have become affluent and those many who were affluent, have become more affluent. This is the visible outcome of globalisation. In village economy too the impact of globalisation is clearly visible. While on one hand, there are suicides for not being able to repay the loans, on the other, every new model of car is touching the roads of small towns and villages.
