Cotton material dyed with the fresh leaf dye obtained from Anthocephalus cadamba Miq, Manilkara zapota (L) Van Royen, Muntingia calabura L., Syzygium cumini L., Sterculia foetida L., Terminalia arjuna (Roxb.) W. & A., dry leaf dye of Gmelina arborea L., Mentha spicata L and dry bark dye of Peltophorum pterocarpum (DC.) Backer ex Heyne and Thespesia populnea L. were studied for their fastness properties. All of them had very good to excellent fastness properties for light, rubbing and washing but perspiration fastness was poor. Alkaline perspiration fastness was better in bark dyes than leaf dyes. Using the inorganic substance like copper with urea formaldehyde (U.F.) resin as finishing agent, perspiration fastness was improved from poor to excellent.
