Angora rabbit hair, a speciality hair fiber has some unique properties like luster, softness, lighter and warmth. However due to lesser scale height and more medullation rabbit hair does not have inter-fiber cohesion and creates difficulty when processed alone. To study the effect of pretreatment on Angora rabbit hair by different chemicals like formic acid, sodium hydroxide, Morpholine and a protease enzyme, research work was conducted in terms of physio-chemical properties. The suitable pretreated rabbit hair was blended with viscose rayon fiber and spun into yarn. It is observed that pretreatment of Angora rabbit hair increases its spinning characters and the blend yarn meets the basic requirements of a yarn leading to good fabric production and facilitates quality garments with suitable requirements.
