Use of various type of natural fibre in textile industries is very old. Natural fibres like flax, ramie, jute etc has been used in various blends and yarn is made and fabric is also produced. In such cases units like Raymond, Grasim, Jayashree Textiles, Gujarat Spinners (now GSL), RTM, RSWM, take the pioneer lead. Of these natural fibres, pineapple fibre had great potential to be used in textile mills. SITRA has carried out much research work on pineapple fibre.
