摘要

Synthetic colorants chemistry is almost now one and half a century old. During these years several thousands of colored molecules have been synthesized and their application areas grown several fields barring the traditional textile colorations. Today the research effort is mainly focused on colorants with specific and optimized properties to obtain tailor-made colorants. Theoretical methods are largely used in pursuing this goal.
