From the limited investigations and study a brief idea about optimized dyeing pH, effect of different mordants on colour value and fastness properties of Jujube bark, Hinjal bark and Himalayan rhubarb dyed on silk and wool fabric was obtained. Since this work is purely on academic interest, so the pollutions load of some of the metals have not been considered. However, a more detail study can be conducted to check the dyeing behavior, toxicity and other parameters of dyed substrates. Based on the experiments conducted following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Depth of shade for both wool and silk fabric dyed with Jujube bark, Hinjal bark and Himalayan rhubarb in absence of mordant follows a commonly increasing trend with lowering of dye bath pH. 2. It is always recommended to dye both silk and wool with Jujube bark, Hinjal bark and Himalayan rhubarb at pH 4 to 5. 3. Dye uptake appears to be higher in case of wool than that observed in case of silk. 4. There is no significant change in wash fastness properties of dyed wool and silk fabrics in absence and presence of mordant expect some few cases. 5. Light fastness property of wool and silk fabric dyed with Hinjal bark and Himalayan rhubarb in absence of mordant is comparatively higher than that of Jujube bark. Hinjal bark on silk in presence of zinc sulphate and tannic acid improves light fastness rating maximum up to 1.5 point, whereas wool fabric dyed with Hinjal bark in presence of ferrous, zinc, calcium and copper sulphate and tannic acid improves the light fastness rating maximum up to 2. Wool fabric dyed with Himalayan rhubarb in presence of all the mordants expects magnesium sulphate improves light fastness property.
