摘要

Polyester fibre manufacturing came to India in the 60s via CAFI, Mumbai. Then JK Polyester started manufacturing in Kota, Rajasthan. It was then followed by Calico, IOC, Swadeshi Polytex, Ghaziabad (U.P.). Lately Indorama and Reliance started polyester fibre manufacturing at Butiburi, Nagpur and Patalganga, Maharashtra respectively. Besides this a few other manufacturers had started polyester fibre manufacturing but for one reason or the other have closed or have been taken over by a big player in the textile industry. Most of the plants were commissioned using Dupont technology, USA or Zimmer technology, Germany. Polyester fibre is mainly used in synthetic spinning mills. It can be manufactured by continuous method or batch process. A layman will be surprised to hear that polyester fibre is manufactured from organic chemicals. Lots of people working in spinning mills are not aware of its manufacturing process.
