In the world market, the share of knitted cotton goods is slowly increasing year by year. The unique interlocking structure of hosiery cloths provides good elastic and softness properties, which enhances the comfortable wearing. To maintain the fabric dimensional stability for proper end use, the wet processing treatments need to be carried out with less or no tension. With the advent of technological development, soft over flow dyeing machines are being employed for processing of the knitted fabrics. These machines bring down the cost of dyeing consider-ably by reducing the duration of dyeing and addition of dyes. In detailed studies, Farrington1 and Glover et.al. have discussed and calculated the impact of dye addition and repeat dyeing on the cost. A review paper has been published on the subject of optimization and enhancement of maximum reproducibility in dyeing. Generally the blind dyeing practice can be successfully accomplished under industrial conditions. Even more fine- tuning in process control and machine operation seems to be necessary to achieve a good level of dyeing. The major factors, which need to be controlled or have changes in them, were monitored when aiming for the reproducibility of dyes.
