摘要

Swelling of cotton was carried out using three different swelling agents like Sodium hydroxide, ethylene diamine and morpholine. Cotton pre-swollen with different swelling agents was treated with acid and neutral celiulase enzyme. Similarly pre enzyme treated cotton was subjected to swelling agent treatment. All treated samples were dyed with aqueous extract of Madder. The K/S values of dyed samples were determined using Computerised Color Matching technique. Results indicate that enzyme treatment followed by swelling showed higher depth of dyeing as compared to swelling treatment followed by enzyme treatment. The wash and light fastness of the samples dyed with aqueous extract of Madder were found to be good to excellent and independent of the treatment.
