Microorganisms are a part of our life and they rapidly grow in textiles, and they develop an unpleasant smell. When tennis-socks or bath mats and towels smell badly it is due to growth of bacteria-harmless as well harmful. Natural fibers - cotton and wool, due to their higher moisture content are good nourishment or micro-organisms of all types. They are promoted by biologically degradable organic impurities and moisture. Modern microfibers and non-wovens with their large surface areas are ideal for growth of microorganisms of all types. When textiles are worn, body temperature is ideal for growth of bacteria.
