Recognition of fibre-reactive dyes by Ratte and Stephen in 1954 and subsequent introduction of Procion dyes (as reactive dyes) by ICI in 1956 were events of great tech-nical and commercial importance. The chemistry of reactive dyes and their application into textile substrates comprise an enormous subject. The early synthetic fibre-reactive dyes are an-ionic dyes containing a pending reacting unit. Though the bulk of reactive dyes are mainly anionic dyes there are some definite number of non-ionic reactive dyes developed with specific objectives. This short article is prepared to focus on this theme.
