摘要

Coloured dye wastewater treatment and decolori-sation is an arduous task and a wide range of pH, salt concentration and chemical structures add further complications. The biological processing system appears to be a viable choice. The textile effluent contains a variety of polluting substances including dyes. Environmental legislation is imposed to control the release of dyes, particularly azo based compounds, into the atmosphere. Colour is recognized as the first contaminant in effluents and also the additives (chemicals) consequent to colouration of substrates followed by post treatments and they have to be removed before discharging into water bodies or on land.
