THE Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and its partner Treviso Technologia, a centre for networking in the textile and fashion industry in Treviso, Italy, are to launch a project which will twin the clusters of Tirupur and Treviso. This announcement was made by the President of the Indo-Italian Chamber, Mr. Narinder Nayar, in Mumbai recently. Addressing a seminar on "Textile Industry: Fostering Technology Transfer between Italy and India", Mr. Nayar said, the project planned by the Chamber and its partners, supported by the Italian Embassy and Fondazione Cassa Di Risparmio Di Venezia, would help internationalise the Indian textile industry and help the Tirupur cluster to move up the value chain and develop niche markets in the industralised world. The Italian partners from Treviso (home to Benetton) would extend technical assistance and transfer know how to the Indian industry.
