The infrared spectra of jut fibre in raw, dewaxed and bleached (using different bleaching agents) condition have been observed over the frequency range of 500-4000 cm~-1 using KBr Pellet technique. The changes in the spectra are interpreted with the help of band assignments. The intensity of the different bands in the spectra have been assessed before and after bleaching of the jute fibre.
