In recent years the concept of the nation has come under scrutiny again in an age of globalization and increased migration. In the United Kingdom there have been many who have questioned whether there is now a cohesive idea of what it is to be British when so many have immigrated into our country. This book is thus a useful and timely volume from Nordicom. Roosvall and Salovaara-Moring suggest that "the nation" is a resilient concept around which discourse can be organized. Politics, sports, and cultural events, both in news and fiction, are largely organized around what we call the nation. If a population is to know what a nation is, then its majority must be able to imagine what this means (p. 9).
