This book contains 30 brief chapters by authors across the communication and anthropology fields from a number of countries. It represents a discussion of what anthropology might mean for the communication field in terms of both the kinds of content as well as different approaches to audience reception. The editors lay out the book's purpose: "... designed to provide a useful source for a large number and diversity of scholars, to be useful in teaching, and to represent the diversity of thinking in media anthropology across various fields and disciplines . . ." (p. ix).
