摘要

In this study, 180 first-time-in-college (FTIC) students at Miami Dade College, Florida in need of remedial instruction in basic mathematics, reading, and sentence skills utilized the A + dvancer® College Readiness Online software. Significant results were found with increased ACCUPLACER® scores; number of students who avoided at least one remedial course; number of students who avoided remediation; number of students who advanced a level within the remedial coursework sequence, enrolled in the next level coursework, and also passed the next course. These results suggest that institutions can use computer-assisted instruction to efficiently allocate resources while addressing the need to provide remedial education in efficient and effective ways.
