This paper deals with the experimental and theoretical analysis of concrete beams in different scale, under free vibration. Four beams were tested: two beams were reinforced with steel bars and two with steel bars and near surface mounted (NSM) carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) rectangular rods. All beams were subjected to static tests at different levels of bending loading to create increasing damage degrees before free vibration tests. Envelope of frequency response functions (FRFs) obtained by dynamic testing are shown and the changes of natural frequency values are related to the damage degree of RC beams with or without NSM CFRP rectangular rods. Theoretical frequency values are compared with those obtained by experimental tests and finite element analysis. The availability of the theoretical model for beam specimens in different scale is herein discussed on the basis of the data collected, comparing frequency values for undamaged and damaged elements obtained by dynamic tests with condition of free free edges.
