Organising cake sales, knocking on doors and shaking tins are all good ways to raise money for your local club, but they can take a lot of time and effort. In contrast, fundraising online takes minutes to set up and lets you reach a much wider audience. And although BT closed down its popular MyDonate fundraising service last month, there are still plenty of options available. Your club doesn't have to be a registered charity to raise money online, but you'll benefit from reduced fees if it is, in some cases your club will get 100 per cent of all donations (including Gift Aid). Being one of the best-known fundraising sites, there's a good chance your potential doners will already have a JustGiving account (www.justgiving.com), making it easier for them to donate. And with online fraud rarely out of the headlines, people are more likely to donate using a site they've heard of.
