If you prefer to see the programs and apps on your PC displayed in a list rather than in Windows 8.1's tiled design, there's an easy way to do this. On your Desktop, right-click the taskbar, click Properties and then click the Navigation tab. In the 'Start screen' section, tick all the boxes except the second one (see screenshot), click Apply and then OK. Now, when you go to the Modern tile interface, you'll see all your PC programs as a list. The programs with shortcuts on your Desktop will appear first, followed by the other programs and apps in separate categories.
