Matt Pritchard raised a query about the custom authentication script in the March issue, saying: 'Is there an exit(); omitted from the PHP code for the login? Otherwise the restricted pages just get served anyway.' Well spotted Matt! Yes, there should be an exit statement after the code for the page that tells people they're not authorised. The original version of the script, which was written for a site I host, used a redirection to a different page, offering subscription information, and when the script was simplified to put it in the magazine, I omitted the exit. Of course, it would have been good practice to include it anyway, even if the browser was being redirected elsewhere.
