Getting your email over the air made the RIM Blackberry a big seller in the US. In Europe, a tailored Blackberry has failed to sell, mostly because European users all have their own GSM phones and, if you want to, you can get your email over the air on your phone. The easiest way to do this, most would agree, is with a combined phone and PDA - something like the latest (and last ever) HP Jornada, or any PocketPC phone edition, or the Palm Tungsten W or the Handspring Treo. But you can do it with pretty much any phone and PDA, if you link them together - infrared or Bluetooth will do, and you can even do it with a wire. What you have to do, then, is decide which service to use. Orange, after watching people do this for some time, has decided to join in, providing a service it calls Office Freedom. It launched in early February, with plans to make it a fully fledged service in the second half of 2003.
