This study shows that organizations can restrain growth of network support staff as their networks grow in size and complexity. Computer Economics makes the following recommendations: 1.Invest in automation. Over time, investments in network management and automation tools have succeeded in reducing the cost of maintaining network infrastructure, and we believe technology will continue to enable organizations to reduce support costs. The use of proper configuration management tools, in particular, can avoid errors and outages.
