Disaster Recovery Tops List of Outsourcing Services That Deliver Good Customer Experience and Value

The outsourcing of disaster recovery services provides the greatest opportunity for IT organizations to improve service levels and reduce costs, according to our recently released study on the outsourcing of 11 IT functions. The study also found that the outsourcing of application development work, despite being one of the most widely outsourced functions, is the least likely to produce satisfied customers. Two common objectives with outsourcing are to reduce costs and increase service levels. In our study, IT Outsourcing Statistics 2013/2014, we assess the customer experience with outsourcing 11 IT function to determine the potential for organizations to meet these two objectives. We rank the IT functions by their cost-and service-success rates. We call this the cost experience and service experience.
