Graphics accelerator manufacturers are churning out new 3D boards faster than the boards themselves chew through polygons. Some of the accelerators, like 3Dlabs' Oxygen GVX210 and Elsa's Gloria II, feature new architecture and beefed-up performance. The new dual-pipeline architecture behind In-tense3D's Wildcat 4210, scheduled to begin shipping this month, features two programmable ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits) as well as two rasterization engines. Other cards, like E&S's new Lightning 1200LX, venture into new operating systems—in this case, Linux.
