The $399.99 canon powershot A650 is won't woo users looking for a compact camera-it's bulky and heavy. But it has the chops to win over buyers who would otherwise opt for a high-end camera. Most notably, its image quality is superb. This 12.1-megapixel model offers solid features for the money, including a 6x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, a 270-degree rotating LCD, and manual exposure settings. The camera's budget price is reflected in the movement of the zoom lens, however. If the zoom falls between focal-length settings, a slight delay results so it can shift to the next setting.
