At some point we might actually see a clear distinction among media, business, gaming, and Internet systems. For right now, Gateway's $1,179 GM5632E desktop does a good job of all-terrain computing, with an emphasis on media handling. Although stuffed with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 3GB of memory, a pair of 500GB Serial ATA hard drives wrapped in a RAID Level 1 configuration, and a 256MB nVidia GeForce 8500 GT graphics card, the GM5632E will disappoint avid gamers. But if you can stand the occasional stutter, you'll have a reasonable gaming experience, and the PC's productivity capabilities are solid.
