Powerful enough to handle most computing tasks, but not heavy enough to weigh you down on a cross-country business trip, thin-and-light notebooks occupy the sweet spot in portable computing, giving you the best of all worlds. Here's what you need to know to choose the right model. Thin-and-light notebooks range in weight from 4 to 6 pounds. (Ultraport-ables weigh less than 4 pounds, while desktop replacements are 6 pounds and over.) The case should measure no more than 1.5 inches thick.
