Pen-based tablet notebooks haven't enjoyed much popularity in their first years on the market. Windows Vista-with its integrated tablet functionality, streamlined features, and improved pen-and touch-screen technology-was supposed to bring those machines to the masses. Although we haven't seen the latest revenue numbers, there's one sign this portable-computing niche is on the rise: Dell has announced its entry into tablet notebooks.
