Many IT professionals view office politics as something nasty. But where there's technology, there's change, and where there's change, there will be people who perceive themselves as winners or losers. That's where politics begin. As a project manager, I've encountered many politically charged situations: resistance from people suspicious about change, power struggles between departments, and a lack of support from people I didn't even know were key to the project.
